Sunday School
Fanning the flames

Our Sunday church school meets every Sunday morning from September through June. Following the morning coffee hour, a brief opening worship service begins at 11:00, followed by classes for children first grade through seventh grade. Classes conclude at 12:00 noon.

Our church school staff consists of dedicated teachers who are parents or college students who have been teaching for a number of years. Classes are lively and full of fun, and are focused on learning about God's love and the spiritual values that derive from knowing that love.

The confirmation program consists of two years of instruction with Pastor Phyles. Currently, eighth and ninth grade young people meet with pastor during the church school time. Upon successful completion of the two-year instruction and a class project, confirmands affirm their baptism on Reformation Sunday of their tenth grade year. Confirmation instruction presumes regular church school attendance prior to entering confirmation classes.

Awareness and procedures are in place to protect all children while they are in the church building. Every effort is made to prevent any child from being alone with any adult. We have never experienced any problems in this area, but we take every reasonable precaution nevertheless.

Bible Study
Bible Study

A lively Bible study group meets every Wednesday evening at 7:30, except during the summer. The group is led by a congregational member, Thomas Knowlton, who is a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. The hour-and-a-half session each evening moves sequentially through the verses of a selected Biblical book, addressing historical and faith issues. A lively discussion often ensues.
